The summer has flown by in a flash, we hope you’ve had a good one! Now here we are in September, the month of new beginnings and changes are afoot here at Mama Social…
Since we started in 2016 we’ve had the most amazing time meeting all of you and your little ones and heard from some genuinely inspiring speakers. We’ve seen babies grow into toddlers (and some even start school!), friendships forge and mums really supporting each other. It’s truly been an honour to be able to facilitate this.
So, its with a heavy heart that we announce that the Mama Social Friday meet ups are no more. We’ve had lots of changes personally since we began nearly two years ago and we no longer feel we can give it the attention it needs and deserves.
However…the great news is that we’ve decided to continue our evening events and make them bigger and better than ever!
Think pamper nights, craft workshops, shopping events, practical parenting events, all with the Mama Social twist.
We’ll also be planning days out on an ad hoc basis. These will all be advertised on our social media and via our website and of course we’ll keep you up to date by email too.
Thank you to everyone for all your support over the last (nearly) two years. This isn’t the end, just the beginning of something new! We look forward to seeing you soon.
On May 12th Caroline Armstrong will be coming in to Mama Social. Caroline is a hypnotherapist and owner of Healthy You Hypnotherapy. She has over 10 years experience in successfully working therapeutically with children and adults and prior to setting up Healthy You Hypnotherapy worked as a Social Worker and Mental Health Practitioner. She now specialises in women’s mental and physical health.
Caroline will be talking about Hypnotherapy, how it works and how it can help improve women’s mental and physical health and wellbeing with a focus on importance of self care for women and mums.
On 26th May, for the first time, we’re taking Mama Social on the road!
As our usual venue is unavailable we’re instead hosting a meet up at Whirlow Hall Farm at The Barn Cafe. We’ve arranged a farm tour and there’ll be animal handling for the little ones if they’re feeling brave!
We’ve had a bit of an extended break from Mama Social over Christmas and New Year but now we’re back, refreshed and raring to go!
Mama Social had a fantastic first year, It’s been amazing to meet so many new mums and the guest speakers have been truly inspiring. 2016 has brought some big changes for us personally (we’ve added a couple of babies for a start!) and so we’ve had to re think how we do things.
We’ve slightly changed the format of the group and will now be running on the 2nd and 4th Friday of the month during term time. We’ll also be starting the group at 10am the talk will start around 10:30 which we’re hoping will give us a bit more time to chat and get to know each other. We’ll still be at the same venue – The backroom at The Showroom Cafe (to the left of the main bar).
Mama Social will also be running evening events more regularly from March and are aiming for one a month. We’ll keep you posted on these events as plans develop and as always check out our social media for up to date goings on.
Joining us at mama social on Friday 14th October is Rachel Medina, the local coordinator for the Sheffield charity, the Snowdrop Project. A charity which works to empower survivors of human trafficking to live independently in the community.
Rachel helped to start the charity, while starting a family. She is going to come and talk to the group about how she juggled motherhood with the pressures of setting up a charity.
Rachel will also being telling us about how and why the charity was started and the incredible work they do to support the survivors of human trafficking. ”The Snowdrop Project is named thus because, as the first flower of spring, the Snowdrop must overcome the harsh, cold realities of winter in order to bloom.”
Rachel is coming in to Mama Social on Friday 14th October, 10:30-12 at The Showroom- We hope to see you there!
I’m Kelsey Barrie and I live in Ridgeway (just on the Sheffield/Derbyshire border) with my 2 sons, Louis who is 19 and Lucas 15
Where are you from?
I’m Sheffield born and bred and wouldn’t want to be from anywhere else!
What do we need to know about you?
I’m a people person and all my previous jobs have involved working in and looking after teams. Taking my redundancy from a well known high street Bank after 20 years service in 2012 gave me the perfect opportunity to address my work/life balance and choose a completely new career path.
I joined Weleda in April 2013 as an Advisor and have enjoyed every minute. I now also look after a team in Yorkshire, Scotland and Northern Ireland and I can honestly say I have never working with a group of more inspiring, supportive and welcoming individuals – we are a family in every sense of the word. My job gives me the opportunity to share my passion for natural health and wellbeing with others, helping people find a more natural way to feeling better
Join us on the evening of Wednesday 28th Sep at 7:30 when we will be bringing you an exclusive Mama Social X Trib3 collaboration.
The evening will be held at the unique Trib3 venue on Ecclesall rd (entrance next door to Sainsburys)
We will begin the evening with a introduction to this new kind of fitness session. Trib3 offers a group workout designed around three key components: treadmill, resistance and intensity to maximise conditioning, physical and mental performance.
Tribe has exclusively tailored their workout to our mama social members with a focus on retuning to exercise post baby.
We are giving the opportunity to try this amazing 30 minute workout, surrounded by your fellow mamas, in a laid back, non judgey (promise!) environment and set to a backdrop of internationally acclaimed music.
Trib3 will also be discussing future promotions specifically for Mama Social members, so don’t miss out.
Come and join us for a Giggle whilst also getting back into shape. We’re all in this together!
